Tourism business for indigenous communities
July 10-15, 2005
Waylon Honga gave a series of seminars in Calilegua and Maimara (Jujuy Province) and Bariloche (Rio Negro) to discuss the basic concepts of economics, marketing, advertising, services, and management for small businesses in indigenous communities. In Bariloche, Mr. Honga’s presentation had added importance as the two Mapuche communities (Wiry Tay and Tripay Antu) he addressed are both at the beginning stages of starting tourism businesses. In the community of beautiful Lake Mascardi Mr. Honga was honored with a traditional Mapuche ceremony. More than 25 Mapuches leaders traveled from four different remote geographic regions to represent over 60 Mapuche communities in the region.
